BE ELECTED
Is there anything we can do to tamp down the infotainment hyperbole surrounding the Democratic primary? Can we muzzle the cable news pundits and irritating surrogates or stop the endless video loops of shock-value footage?
It seems to have gotten worse in this gap between primaries, with no new numbers to talk about and no more actual voting happening until April 22.
So we're subjected to Jeremiah Wright's offending words again and again. Bill Clinton's First Lady and daughter keep landing on the tarmac in 1990s Bosnia. James Carville shouts "Judas" at the affable Bill Richardson, then declares he is proud to have done so. McPeak calls Bill Clinton a Joe McCarthy.
Could we please have some thoughtful roundtables and in-depth interviews? Could we maybe get another debate or some investigative reporting? How about digging around in some old McCain speeches for policy nuggets? We'd be interested in hearing from the remaining superdelegates, too.
Give us election coverage -- but, please, give us something with substance. Something we can dig our teeth into.
BE ELECTED
