This is the Smoking Gun. Message to Dems: Don't Get Defensive, Distracted or Lose Focus.

A BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL

This is THE smoking gun. This is Bush's own 16 revamped intelligence agencies who have concluded that the Iraq War has expanded terrorism. Thousands upon Thousands of American and Iraq lives destroyed. Billions of dollars wasted.

Congress will be won or lost based on the ability of the Democrats to bring truth to power on this intelligence finding by ALL of the top 16 Bush spy agencies.

The Dems cannot let Rove divert attention -- which he is already doing -- or spin this into a political tit for tat -- which the media is arleady doing.

The Dems have a patriotic responsibility to get this information through the pro-Bush media filter to every hamlet in America.

The Dems need to be focused, aggressive, and unrelenting in getting this finding out.

They cannot become defensive or distracted by the magician of the dark arts (Rove) in the White House.

The future of America, our national security and democracy is at stake.

And For Expanding Terrorism

First Congress impeaches him and then, for his crimes against humanity, he goes on trial at the International Court of Criminal Justice.

BUSH'S SMOKING GUN

Not! The fact is that he and his pals don't give a shit what we think or want. He has made his bed with his good friends the Saudis and the Mexicans. Give the voters Democrats who promise to close our borders, to remove all SPP activities, to bring our men home from Bush's war... give us people who promise and actually do these three things and they will sweep into office and just maybe push our Nation back into independent status.

Defining Issue: Who makes us safer?

Bill Clinton said it clearly:

  • The Bush Administration had time to fight bin Laden, and did nothing. It let the Clinton initiatives die, and demoted the nation's top terror expert, who had served four administrations.
  • The Republicans obstructed Clinton's attempts to kill bin Laden
  • Bush didn't even try to kill bin Laden until the trade center was in ruins.
  • The Bush Administration thinks the War in Iraq is seven times more important than the War in Afghanistan.
  • The War in Iraq has been a disaster BECAUSE it has made us less safe.

In 2004, Bush beat Kerry by ridiculing Kerry's claim to be a war hero. Kerry was and is a war hero, but Bush only had to make people doubt it for about six weeks. The Swift Boat attacks took the heart out of the Kerry Campaign.

The GOP 2006 Campaign rests just as heavily on Bush's supposed victories in the war on terror as the Democrat's 2004 Campaign rested on Kerry's war record. They had to destroy Kerry's reputation, and since lies were the only way to do that, they used lies. We can use the truth to take the heart out of the GOP campaign--without perceived superiority on the terrorism issue, they're toast.

Iraq and terrorism have to be RE-linked: Bush lost the war against bin Laden by fighting a murderous, reckless and unnecessary war in Iraq.

The Clinton challenge to Fox News should be a call to action to every Democrat--conservative, progressive, and every step and stage in between.

Clinton and Bushs are pals

You are being sucked into a Clinton re-write to facilitate his wife's run. Clinton is best friends of both Bushs. They're buds. Skip the Clinton-speak.

Blow me.

You're a troll.

OOPS!

Steve, while I think you are correct and Doris is incorrect in your assessments, may I respectfully suggest that comments like your last message destroy your credibility? Let's leave the name calling to the Republicans, OK?

Yeah, I know

Mom used to say the same thing.

On a serious note, though:

1. People come onto to Democratic sites alleging to be Democrats.
2. They attack and ridicule famous Democrats, the national campaign leadership, and every Democratic strategist.
3. Then, if challenged that such attacks are counter productive during the heat of a partisan election, they say that the Democrats and the Republicans are the same, that it doesn't matter who wins.

It is possible that some of these people are misguided Naderites. But I believe that others are part of an organized astroturf GOP effort to divide, discourage and ultimately repress Democratic turnout. After all, if the Democrats are just as bad as the Republicans, why vote? Why replace Hastert with Pelosi?

Also,I don't believe her name is Doris. I think he's some pimply-faced college Republican slime vomiting posts from his frat house.

As for my language, you have to talk to Bartcop and the Rude Pundit. Before I met those guys, I taught Sunday School.

I will not live in a state of fear

Sunshine11

I will not live in a state of fear, especially one induced by any party for political gains. Mr. Bush has cried "wolf" one too many times with his fear propaganda.

National Intel Estimate

This is not a time for "moderates" who are afraid of their own shadows; this is a time for Democrats to finally stand up, not act like craven sheep in front of a stern Karl Rove.

For those "Democrats" who voted for this disastrous war, or, like Hillary, voted to make the war possible, now is the time for them to repudiate their terrible mistake and join the get-out-of-Iraq-as-soon-as-possible movement.

So many Democrats still don't get it: the presence of our troops inflames the whole Middle East and no amount of big weapon swagger is going to change that. We are not preventing a civil war, we are just holding down the lid on a pot that is already boiling. It will boil over, whether we stay or not; it will be worse if we stay.

Those of us who were against the war from the start predicted that it would lead to civil war and inflame terrorism and lo and behold we were right. But the civil war, or the peaceful breakup of Iraq, will not be stopped by us, especially since we are in fact taking sides (supporting the Shiite government).

It would be much better if the international community established a quarantine of Iraq and then stood back to let the various groups kill each other to their heart's content until they realize that they will have to arrive at some kind of settlement. Unfortunately, even with a quarantine, an arms embargo, all sides in Iraq are absolutely overflowing with weapons--again, due to the most inept and stupid of policies of the Bush administration.

So, yes, if we go the aftermath will be bloody and the eventual outcome may not be to anyone's liking, but Hey, Americans get used to it: we can't control the world.

So, Democrats, if they are going to stand for something, finally, should at least point out what the NIE really reveals: Bush and the Republicans engaged in policies to INCREASE the danger of the so-called "war on terror," because that's the only electoral asset they had: to scare Americans into voting against their own interests.

Oh, Democrats should also point out that this Iraq war, which has made everyone LESS safe, has ALSO been a windfall for Bush's corporate buddies, and has occasioned the most unbridled corruption ever recorded.

Message to Dems

Juli in JAX says: Absolutely! We've been playing this game for 6 years: Repugs act, Dems re-act. It's got to stop. It's as assinine as the Bush Junta's "War on Terra": Suspected Terrorists hint that they might do something, and suddenly Americans are put on alert, are willing to stand in long lines, give up their bottled water and their Freedom of Speech. QUIT ALREADY!!! Don't let the terrorists and/or the RoveRepugs direct the discourse or our actions. Stay on message: AMERICA is being destroyed by these thugs. America stands for freedom and equality under the law. America does not stand for torture or dictatorship. Support the REAL AMERICA. Roust the criminals out of office and send them packing. A new day is dawning.
