BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

The Repuglicans spit out the word “liberal” as though it is something distasteful, they bandy the concept of liberal about as though it is worthless, they look for new and more unique ways to denigrate and demean their liberal opponents but guess what, John McCain owes his life and all that came after to those “liberals”, those hippies, those flower children, those peace not war protesters he and the Repuglicans so vehemently condemn!  All those “liberals” were the instrument that in effect brought an end to the VietNam war thus making possible his release from the Hanoi Hilton!  Had it been left entirely up to the likes of John McCain, “stay there for 100 years” John McCain, he could be wasting away in a Prisoner of War prison cell even now!  So I say to everyone, change is what you make it, and real change begins with Barack Obama!

John McCain does not want us to “get to know her”!  “McCain campaign: Palin won't do any interviews, she's just going to read speeches from now on” No press conferences, no media interviews, hmm, is this a case of “anything you say can be held against you”, a case of anything Palin says will be judged in the court of public opinion and John McCain can’t take that chance!  “No Questions, Please. We'll Tell You What You Need To Know” The “job” interview is over; you can forgettabout foreign policy, the economy, her stance on any and all things.  Now, if this is a case of “trust me”, I am reminded of the last eight years and based on all the lies and screwed up facts, based on the shredding of the Constitution, based on Bush/Cheney/McCain, based on what has already come out about Sarah Palin,  I cannot trust anything the Repuglicans say or do!  The only thing we the American people are left with is just who of sane mind and body really wants to hire her!

Would someone please tell CNN in their various hunts and haunts for “stagecraft”, that this is the finest example of “stage craft” ever produced, and it was used by Repuglicans, for Repuglicans!  “Republicans Use Fake Troops for RNC Video”!

* * *

Did anyone notice that at the beginning of his “speech of a lifetime”, John McCain was seen again standing in front of the biggest “green screen” ever!  Someone made a boo boo, one big production mistake, after all the negativity surrounding his previous appearance in front of a “green screen” there he stood again with a sea of green at his back!!!  Not good!

* * *

No wonder the VETS were protesting McCain at the Repuglican convention last night!  The whole country should be protesting McCain and the Bush policies: “Guaranteed Medical Care for Vets a ‘Burden,’Says John McCain … the Bush administration's policy of privatization and underfunding hasn't gone away.”  We know that McCain intends to continue the Bush policies!  “A Burden”???  Caring means you make sure our Veterans are cared for -- obviously these Repuglicans believe in a policy of “out of sight, out of mind”!

* * *

Does McCain really think he should get “special” treatment? Does he really think he’s above it all and that the American people should just accept him at his word?  Does he really think the press and the American people owe him deference because he was a prisoner of war back in the day?  Does he really think the American people should not question his record?  Does he really believe that his years of “trouble maker” fame can be reversed and made into a “Maverick” badge of honor to be worn with pride?  It doesn’t take much to bring out McCain’s temper; do we really want that kind of volatility answering phones at 3A.M.!

It seemed more like a funeral than a presidential Campaign Convention!  As I watched and listened to the Repuglicans last night I realized, this is not a race to be won on issues, because the issue is George Bush and he’s a loser! It is not a race to be won on the war in Iraq because it’s still going on and the Iraqi’s have told us to leave!  It will never be won on personality alone, because one candidate has personality, and the other doesn’t.  The whole event was reminiscent of a wake, the friends and family who came to speak were delivering a testament to the past, a eulogy, rather than any hope for the future.  It was sad really, watching and listening to the stories about a man whose only glory was so long ago!

* * *

This subterfuge might have worked had there not been so many “I’s”, “Not merely a Republican. Not merely a candidate. John McCain cast himself as a leader for all Americans, regardless of party or status … I don’t work for a party,” he declared. “I don’t work for a special interest. I don’t work for myself. I work for you.”  We heard more “I’s” last night than we heard “you’s and we’s”!  Sorry John, you didn’t sell me, I will vote for Barack Obama!
