Hmm, the people who are vehemently denying the information contained in Ron Suskind’s new book are the same group who said, “Mushroom clouds”, “Weapons of Mass Destruction”, “Iraq is an imminent threat”, “yellow-cake in Niger”, “Hussein would ‘fairly soon’ have nuclear weapons”, “Hussein would seek domination of the entire Middle East, take control of a great portion of the world’s energy supplies, directly threaten America’s friends throughout the region and subject the U.S. or any other nation to nuclear blackmail.” When will Americans wake up to the fact that George Bush, Dick Cheney, John McCain, and their minions, the entire Repuglican Party will LIE in order to achieve their goals and/or cover their a**es?

“Ridiculous is as “ridiculous” does, the denials regarding Ron Suskind's new book, coming from the White House and former CIA chief Tenet are as “absurd” as “ridiculous” gets!!! “White House spokesman Tony Fratto said, ‘The notion that the White House would concoct such a letter is absurd.’ Tenet issued a statement saying there was no such order from the White House to him. And he said ‘the idea that he'd plant false evidence is ridiculous.’ CNN contributor Fran Townsend was Condoleezza Rice's deputy for counterterrorism at the time. FRAN TOWNSEND, CNN CONTRIBUTOR: It's just patently ridiculous.” Oh, and by the way, “Suskind also writes that months before the Iraq invasion, Habbush had relayed to the Americans through British intelligence that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. He quotes a former U.S. intelligence official as saying, when that information was passed to President Bush, ‘He said, 'F it. We're going in.’" The HORROR in all this is; it’s been five and a half years and more than 4100 American soldiers, our sons and daughters, are dead, over one million innocent Iraqis are dead and the death and destruction continues!

“Obama signs up lawyers … an ‘unprecedented’ new ‘voter protection’ program.” It is reassuring to know that Barack Obama is cognizant of the Repuglican-generated problems we’ve had with voting in the past 2 elections. It also helps knowing that there are those who are willing to protect our votes and protect our Democracy!

“... a very different kind of bombshell involving the Bush administration. Dick Cheney, the Republican vice president now for almost eight years, apparently is not welcome at his own party's political convention next month. Republican officials cite a desire by John McCain's campaign to turn the page on the Bush/Cheney years.” Memo to John McCain, you can turn as many pages as you like, but you can’t deny the damage America has suffered, you can’t deny the Bush/Cheney years, and you can’t deny that YOU, John McCain, supported the Bush/Cheney regime and you plan to continue the policies of the Bush/Cheney regime!

It’s a wonderful thing to live in a country that allows freedom of expression, and I say power to the people! But when a candidate for President of the United States of America offers up his wife for a contest that some in America might consider bizarre, then I question his character, his judgment, and his motives!!! It's one thing for a woman to decide she wants to participate in a topless beauty contest, but quite another when a presidential candidate recommends that his wife join in! All the women who said they plan to vote for McCain, should rethink that decision, do you really want a “First Lady” whose husband would like her to also have the “Miss Buffalo Chip” title???

“JOHN MCCAIN, (R) My experience with nuclear power goes back many years … I knew it was safe then, and I know it's safe now.” Poor old John McCain, a few years late and a couple of light bulbs short! It’s the, ‘duh,’ STORAGE OF NUCLEAR WASTE and how it gets to that infamous storage facility that’s unsafe for America! “For nearly 50 years, the U.S. government and the nuclear regulatory industry have been trying to figure out what to do with massive quantities of deadly radioactive waste that has been piling up at nuclear power plants and munitions factories since the dawn of the atomic age … it's sitting in temporary storage facilities, many of them near major metropolitan areas, vulnerable to accidents, environmental disasters and terrorism. Every possible solution has been explored, from dumping it in the ocean to launching it towards the sun … President Bush, the Department of Energy, and the U.S. Congress decided that all of that nuclear waste should be moved to Nevada and buried under a mountain in the middle of the desert … people in Nevada aren't crazy about this idea … they believe most Americans will agree when they find out how the plan might affect them … this will be the final resting place for 70,000 tons of highly radioactive nuclear waste. Beginning in the year 2010, it will be shipped … from all over the country by truck or by rail, and stored under the mountain in tunnels for the next 10,000 years -- which is how long the waste will remain deadly.”

An addendum to the “nuclear power is safe” story -- I once lived approximately a mile to a mile and a half from a nuclear power plant. There were sirens on light poles throughout the region, which were test-sounded every day at noon, a blaring reminder that there was a nuclear plant nearby and an accident was possible!!!! The hospital where I worked had a disaster protocol in the event there was a nuclear accident -- nurses and hospital personnel were to stand outside the building in a “receiving area” with water hoses, to spray any and all accident victims down before admission to the ER! That was the “nuclear accident protocol”!!!! The “victims” would then be transported to the ER for treatment for any other injuries they may have sustained!!!
