BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

Funny thing about the GOP and John McCain comparing Obama to Jimmy Carter, had we listened to Jimmy Carter and instituted his policies on a permanent basis, had we initiated the energy alternatives he suggested back then, we would not find ourselves in the midst of the catastrophic energy crisis we suffer today! Had America continued the Middle East peace process Carter began in the Middle East, had we pursued the art of diplomacy and negotiation that Carter started, rather than a back door deal trading “arms for hostages,” then perhaps the Middle East would not be experiencing the chaos and confusion, the threat of nuclear weapons and various other weapons of mass destruction, the eternal wars, the death and destruction, the terrorist activity, and the uncertainty of the whole region that exists today!

I would like to take a moment to express my sorrow over the untimely death of George Carlin! He indeed made me laugh at myself and the world many times over, he indeed brought out the truth about this country and the people in it in a most humorous manner, he indeed deserves the respect, the honor, and the admiration his life, his work, and his authenticity represented! He will be missed!

Contrary to what George Bush and the Bush administration would have you believe regarding the “progress” in Iraq, “… Western photographers can no longer roam the streets of the Iraqi capital – and few other cities in Iraq …” Obviously “westerners” are not free to roam the cities and the countryside, obviously Iraq is still dangerous, and full of chaos and confusion, death and destruction; 5 years into this horror, Iraq has NOT become a freedom loving democracy!

McCain Adviser: Another Attack on U.S. Would Be "Big Advantage" For McCain. The latest gaff by the McCain campaign is just a reflection of radical-right-minded Regressive Repuglicans! If you believe Repuglicans are concerned about the safety and security of America, better wake up, apparently they see attacks on this country as a bonus, a benefit, a stepping stone, in their rise to absolute power! No amount of apologies can ever forgive such an abominable, loathsome, repugnant statement!

The "mission NOT accomplished" in Iraq! The GAO has released a report that says: "... several crucial measures the Bush administration uses to demonstrate economic, political and security progress are either incorrect or far more mixed than the administration has acknowledged, according to a report released Monday by the Government Accountability Office. Over all, the report says, the American plan for a stable Iraq lacks a strategic framework that meshes with the administration's goals, is falling out of touch with the realities on the ground and contains serious flaws in its operational guidelines." Imagine that, the Bush administration "out of touch with the realities on the ground" in Iraq!

“Reporters Say Networks Put Wars on Back Burner.” At least some of us out here in the viewing audience have known this since the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq began! We get only what mainstream corporate media wants us to see, and it’s never about the reality of war on the ground!!!

“IF,” indeed, the information was incorrect, as implied in “Correction,” then I stand corrected regarding the John McCain “fundraiser” in Ottawa! If the “letter of the law” was not broken, then certainly the laws of ethics and the spirit of the law were bent over double! The Washington Post article was not the only article that questioned what went down in Ottawa! “DNC Files FOIA Request Over McCain's Latest Campaign Impropriety,” and of course there is that pesky little matter of McCain’s luncheon ‘gathering’ in London: “Judicial Watch Files Complaint Over London Fundraiser.” And there have been other McCain campaign “issues” which are highly questionable regarding the law. “Analysis: McCain Hampered By Missteps -- $100 for a luncheon plate during these economic times, is extravagant, to say the least, and certainly does give rise to questioning even when it’s the “haves and have mores” in attendance. I stand by my note, prefaced with “remembering election 2000 and how Regressive Repuglicans do not give a hoot about the law!!! All one has to do is look at what Repuglicans have done to the Constitution of the United States of America, and that, to borrow a phrase from your candidate, “my friend,” has certainly been documented several times over!!!
