BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

“Local campaign alleges 'dirty tricks' in voting problems … Election Journal has been compiling reports of voting machine malfunctions and other problems throughout the day Tuesday. Brad Friedman also is compiling reports of voting problems on his blog.” While some may think this is alright, because their candidate won in Pennsylvania, these are things that must be repaired before November! If there are voting problems in a Democratic primary election, then most certainly there will be “voting problems” in the national election! And it won’t be so palatable then, will it!

* * *

There’s more than one way to “fix” an election and it ain’t all Repuglicans doing the “fixing”! “If you voted "uncommitted" in the Michigan primary to support Barack Obama, your vote might have essentially gone to Hillary Clinton anyway … Vagnozzi said, ‘there were four times as many Obama supporters than Clinton backers in the 9th, which seems to fit the statewide pattern. But the MDP doesn't have attendance numbers yet’. When asked if that was surprising, given the fact that Clinton won the primary, Vagnozzi said, ‘I think it shows the election wasn't an accurate reflection. Obama wasn't on the ballot. Clinton was.’... it's much more important to seat Michigan than any downside to it." Well now, if you believe that “seating Michigan” without a free and fair election is more important than the people’s vote, then you must also believe that the Supreme Court Decision to install George Bush in the presidency back in 2000 was an accurate decision!

As I read all the negatives regarding “non-support” for Hillary Clinton, I am struck by the number of people who obviously really want to see politics as usual in Washington, D.C.! Are they not tired of the investigations, the sniping, the bickering, the secrecy, the swiftboating, the slander, the smear, the lies, the spin, the fighting, and the lack of concern for the people of America? Since when has verbal abuse and trading insults been the mark of a better leader? Since when have the underhanded tactics and strategies of Karl Rove deserved admiration and respect? I for one find the negativity of the past 16 years abhorrent, and I believe it’s time for a real change in America! It’s time to leave the current state of affairs behind; it’s time for the past to remain history. It’s time to step outside the unacceptable box of politics as usual and begin anew, it’s time to regain credibility, dignity, integrity, trust, and esteem for the United States of America!

Have we all become so unaware of reality that “winning the battle and losing the war” is an acceptable “strategery” in political campaigns? Haven’t we seen enough of that kind of wrong-headed thinking in Iraq? Does anyone truly want to see the Repuglicans' wildest dreams come true? Clinton Is Alive and Kicking—And Threatening To Tear the Party Apart?” When the numbers don’t add up, the outcome is not victory! “The Democratic contest has been a 50-50 proposition for months now--more precisely, a 51-49 percent endeavor or maybe a 52-48-percent face-off in Barack Obama's favor, according to the pledged delegate count and the popular vote. Hillary Clinton's 10-point win in the Keystone State (which apparently did not net her a significant pickup in pledged delegates) does not change this. In fact, her Pennsylvania triumph does not change the fundamentals of the race. Obama is still on track to end the primaries with a slight edge in pledged delegates.”

Some interesting facts you haven’t heard about their advertisers on the boob-tube! “Tough times for American workers ... This squeeze has taken one especially disturbing form: many corporations have cut costs by violating wage-and-hour laws. Managers at Wal-Mart, Pep Boys and Family Dollar, told me that they secretly erased hours from employees' time records because of fierce pressures to minimize costs. At many companies, managers strong-arm employees into working off the clock; hourly employees who clock out at, say, 5 p.m., are ordered to work an hour or two extra unpaid. Swift & Company, Smithfield Foods and Wal-Mart each employed, directly or through contractors, more than 1,000 illegal immigrants, who often accept lower wages than native-born workers.” It’s become obvious that mainstream corporate media cares more about those who buy time on the airwaves and profits than they care about the law or the well-being of the American people!!!

* * *

While all the hoopla over the Democratic primary campaigns is going on; under mainstream corporate media’s radar George Bush has been busy again and it ain’t gonna help the “jobs” dilemma in the good ole U.S.A.! “NEW ORLEANS, April 21 -- With the North American Free Trade Agreement taking a pounding on the campaign trail, President Bush met here Monday with the leaders of Mexico and Canada to defend the pact and to seek new ways to cooperate on border, economic and regulatory issues.” Key phrases here being, “defend the pact”, and “seek new ways to cooperate on border, economic and regulatory issues”! Don’t look for any meaningful jobs here at home anytime soon, not as long as Bush and the Repuglicans are running the show! And to those who think John McCain, the Bush clone, is the answer, better think again, because if McBush gets elected it will be a cold day in hell before decent jobs come back to America!

Hmm, wonder what Plan-B is for the Bushes, because it looks as though Paraguay may not be the safe-haven they thought it would be! The election of Fernando Lugo as president of Paraguay signals the latest advance of the left in Latin America and the end of more than six decades of rule by a political party … Lugo, a bespectacled former Roman Catholic bishop, appears to be among the more moderate left-leaning leaders of South America, where only two major nations, Colombia and Peru, continue to be run by conservatives.”
