BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE
The very best reasons in the world NOT TO VOTE FOR JOHN MCCAIN!

(Think Progress)
* * *
While on the campaign trail, McCain is just another Washington politician, telling the world what he thinks will get him elected, but back in the real world, John McCain really does support torture! “McCain Sides With Bush On Torture Again, Supports Veto Of Anti-Waterboarding Bill.” Is John McBush what America really wants or needs for president? NO, NO, and NO again!
* * *
When Pat Buchanan makes a statement like this about a Repuglican, America better sit up and take notice! “… McCain ‘will make Cheney look like Gandhi.’”
* * *
Is America really ready for this? "What will a Hillary Clinton presidency look like? … high-minded ideals, lowered execution, half truths, outright lies (and imaginary flights), take-no prisoners politics, some very good policy ideas, a presidential spouse given to wallowing in anger and self-pity, and a succession of aides and surrogates pushed under the bus when things don’t go right. Which is to say, often. And endless psychodrama: the essential Clintonian experience …” That’s troubling, and the fact it sounds just like George Bush and the Bush Administration is a whole lot more troubling when it comes to electing a president!* * *
“The president sat down with this pope. They're in concert on some issues obviously, like abortion. Something the Roman Catholic Church is vehemently opposed to, as is this president, many conservatives in the United States. But there are many other issues, as you know, like the death penalty, like the war in Iraq, where the president is not on the same side as the Catholic Church. And so, there's a very delicate political balancing act, if you will.” “Delicate?” “Balancing act?” My rear end! Bush believes it’s damn sure Okay to Kill babies after they’re born, in an illegal, unnecessary preemptive war, “collateral damage,” “shock and awe,” "if you will"!
* * *
I agree that George Bush was politically and morally correct in honoring the Pope upon his arrival at Andrews Air Force Base yesterday. But as I watched George, Laura and Jena walk down the red carpet toward the Pope, it struck me, George Bush has NEVER gone to honor the arrival of America’s dead soldiers when they were returned home, he has NEVER personally acknowledged those flag-draped coffins! Seems to me, given their sacrifice for our country, our soldiers deserve the same respect, the same distinction, the same acknowledgment, and the same honor as that afforded the Pope!
* * *
Don’t mean to be nit-picking, but did anyone see the Pope give the crowd that greeted him the Papal Blessing? I have never known a Pope to deplane and not bless the crowd! Plenty of waves and smiles, but no blessing???
