Hillary Clinton As the Good Old Boy

THE FIFTH COLUMNIST by P.M. Carpenter

"Senator Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again.... Whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me. There’s a pattern emerging here."

No, that wasn't Orval Faubus speaking, and you haven't been transported back to the Arkansas politics of 1957. Instead, you have entered the modern sewer of Clintonland, where anything goes and it commonly stinks to high heaven.

I'm sure you've already seen the quote or heard it played a dozen times on cable network news. Because it was, to put it mildly, upsetting to more than a few folks. Here was Senator Hillary Clinton once again -- only this time directly and explicitly -- playing the good-old-boy politics of race.

She uttered those staggering incomprehensibles to USA Today within hours of her game-ending humiliations in Indiana and North Carolina Tuesday night, so she could always whip out the excuse -- although, as we know, she never apologizes -- of sleep deprivation.

But if true, then even her non compos mentis moments are disciplined and calculated. For they just happened to square with what her campaign has been publicly circulating since South Carolina.

Hillary later "said her remarks weren’t meant to be divisive." OK. I'll let that pass. It's just too easy.

What continues to astonish and calls for comment, however, is the vast flock of Hillary supporters who remain wandering in the wilderness, seemingly oblivious to the immense urgency of her withdrawal from the race.

Oh, just let the primaries play out, they say, because she says it. What harm does it do?

The USA Today interview answered that question.

There was, late into the night of May 6 and all throughout Wednesday, a kind of settled in and laid back attitude developing within the party that, sure, letting the remaining primaries play out would probably be a good thing now. Hillary can speak her positive peace and her supporters can have the opportunity to cast their pro-Hillary votes -- sort of get it all off their chests, that sort of thing. It would be cathartic.

All would now be well, since everyone now knows that the remaining primaries are merely avenues to blow off a little steam.

But all of this was predicated on the understanding that Hillary would shift gears into a unifying and positive mode. She would, that is, attempt no further damage on Barack Obama -- no further divisiveness within or around the party.

That was the broad understanding, and it wasn't one of those subtle, unspoken understandings, either. Everyone -- including, most notably, many of Hillary's prominent supporters -- was saying and writing and emailing on election night and all throughout Wednesday that a nice, pleasant, non-divisive and positive campaign on Hillary's part was now the order of the day, and surely Hillary would adopt this approach in the interest of party unity. Because, as was enormously apparent to all, this thing was over.

And then -- bam! -- came Thursday morning's USA Today's revelation of what Hillary was already plotting and executing within hours of her electoral demise. She had no intention of laying low and no intention of tamping down party divisions. In fact, she was hitting the gas and driving the demographic wedges as deeply as she could.

And why? One word, or, rather, one year: 2012.

Hillary may be devious, but she's not idiotically devious. She knows as well as the next Democrat that Obama has the 2008 nomination locked down. So she has moved on to the next little problem: the 2008 general election. And what better way to clear the path of a Democratic loss than by sowing the seeds of racial division -- than by reminding white voters of all partisan and especially non-partisan stripes that black Obama is not one of them, and never will be.

"There's a pattern emerging here" -- and, you bet, many hard-working white Americans know it well.

It's the 21st century, folks, and these are the 1950s terms in which Hillary has chosen -- again, directly and explicitly -- to frame the presidential selection process.

In another word, it's scandalous.

Obama, of course, will have to play nice with Hillary; he'll have to ignore and dismiss such trash talk in his seemingly lone quest to unify his party. But one would think it would finally cut the progressive ties from Hillary -- that her heretofore enthusiastic progressive supporters would now say, Hillary, that's enough. The party is over, or at least our party will be if you persist in this egomaniacal destruction.

My reasons for supporting Obama

Please, Hillary, let it go. It's over!
I'm not a typical Democrat, although I lean that way. I also have Libertarian tendencies, which can be seen as pseudo-Republican ideals, but are not at all.
I'm a little weird, I guess. I remain an Independent voter.
I am a white male, for the record.
I want the president that doesn't just reflect my ideals, and not just partisan ideals of one party over another. I want a president that can effectively lead and represent (and hopefully heal the damaged reputation of) our country. I personally feel that Barack Obama is the only reasonable choice to lead our country. Not because he's a male, like me. Not because it'd be neat to have a black president. Not because I think a woman shouldn't be president.
Somehow, I am very convinced that he could, and (more importantly) would do what is needed to right this capsizing ship. But only if we continue to give him a Democrat-led Congress. So not only is this presidential election important, but please vote for (only if they're reputable) Democratic candidates for Representative and Senator (if applicable in your state this time around). I said I'm Independent. Yes, I am, to a degree. But, as much as the Republicans call McCain a 'soft' conservative, and the fact is he's the only Republican I could bring myself to vote for, I want my vote to count not only in the general election, but in the shape of the Supreme Court, should a new Justice be required. So I am DEFINITELY voting Democrat, even if the bitch (not meant as a sexist term, just my opinion of her character) wins the nomination.
Hope that clears up my views. :)

Vote your mind, vote your heart, vote your conscience. But please vote!
Indifference is a cancer that eats away at our nation.

As Per Aslan The Lion King We Don't Need To Talk About The Past

"So enough already about Hillary Clinton." "What need we be talking about instead?" "Our electing someone president who'll end the Iraq War, negotiate with Iran plus turning things around here at home." "And then what sort of world?" "It'll be up to us."

The show is over, the

The show is over, the credits are rolling. Please dump your trash on the way out. C'mon PM, starting working on McCain. The silly slugfest here over Clinton benefits no one but him.

obama believer, horse she rode in on

Don't be silly. You must not have been listening to Obama to have made such a suggestion. Go home and sit quietly and think this over. I am sure you will see the flaw. Good Luck!

Maybe (WOOPS! I take it back)

Maybe Hillary Clinton isn't as bright as most people think she is. The earlier race-baiting was mostly innuendo, clever stuff, done especially well by the very clever Bill Clinton. This time around, it seems to me that Hillary Clinton merely is not sophisticated enough to keep blunt discussion of pollsters' demographic groups out of her invention of new ways to look at this contest in which she could perhaps, if you ignore realities, be seen as ahead. Seriously, I think Hillary Clinton is suffering a lot of unfair judgments based on the false assumption that she is exceptionally intelligent. I think she is also often let off the hook because of this assumption, such as by Thom Hartmann and others who suggest she is acting stupidly because she is an exceptionally intelligent person who (inexplicably?) listens to bad advisers. I think she's not especially bright--much like her husband's predecessor, who was too dumb to foretell the consequences of calling his opponent a Bozo. UPDATE: Brent Budowski describes how it is another coordinated effort with her surrogates. I take it back, she's being "evil" again.

Good point, Barry - Hillary's wisdom & "intelligence" overrated!

Good point Barry.

In my previous post (below), I didn't even have time or space to address my comment's title: that in late 1990s Hillary was DISSIN' the very country-folk, workin' stiff, NASCAR voters she claims to represent this time around!

The facts are, Hillary is a far less talented politician than her husband. Besides helping him win his campaigns (Arkansas governor's races and '92 presidential race; given the tremendous advantage of the White House, the '96 midterm was a "gimmee" against the hapless Bob Dole) Hillary's ONLY REAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS are winning her senate campaign in a very, very blue state, with the rolodex, connections, and HUGE DONORS of her husband's eight years in White House. Not exactly a dark-horse, self-made-woman story there!

Now let's look at her fiascos and debacles. Her twin "Look, I'm not going to be just a stay-at-home mom, baking cookies" and "I'm not going to just stand by my man; I'm not just a Loretta Lynn" comments were both completely foolish statements that offered ZERO gain, with huge negatives. Simply, not at all "smart" (and in fact both comments reflecting INSECURITY, arrogance, and a lack of experience on the stump).

Her 1993 Health Care reform FIASCO reflected those shortcomings. She was appointed to the position by her husband - she did not win that post in an open election - and she proceeded to turn it into a secretive, dictatorial, "my way or highway" Frankenstein monstrosity. She was too timid (having very little legislative experience in her own right) to CONFRONT the INSURANCE COMPANIES about Health Care Reform... so she came up with this dismal proposal to force.... SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS to bear the burden of producing billions of dollars worth of health care out of thin air!

That was HER job - PRODUCE health care where before there was none, using recources of federal government - and she basically punted, trying to BULLY that huge task onto the backs of small business owners already burdened by federal & state tax withholding, matching social security taxes; paying unemployment taxes; paying liability insurance, and above all, paying Workers Compensation insurance!
(Worker's Comp is already a company killer, precisely because it is so easy to have a worker injury (much less illness) on the job, and because health care costs are so frightfully high.)

Ironically, even as Hillary sought to kow-tow to the health insurance industry and HMOs with her "stick the burden of providing Health Care on small company owners" debacle, it was the big boys who funded the "Harry and Louise" ads which destroyed what little credibility there was to her "plan". (If you can call that abomination "a plan" in the first place.)

The worst part of course, Hillary's Health Care FIASCO provided Republicans with the very ammunition that they were praying for, Hillary providing the perfect stereotypes of TAX AND SPEND, FORCE HUGE BURDENS on business, UNFUNDED MANDATES, and all the other things Republicans accuse Democrats of. She allowed the grinch-looking Newt Gingrich - unpopular faux-populist back-bench bomb-thrower of the Republican minority - to bash ALL Democrats as autocratic dictators, and as a result of course the Democrats lost the House AND Senate in 1994.
(True, there were some minor Dem. scandals along the way, Rep. Rostenkowski sent to jail for things that Vice President Cheney would laugh at today.)

Well, take a look at this great photograph of a much younger Bill and Hillary Clinton,
http://www.britannica.com/eb/art-61080/First-Lady-Hillary-Rodham-Clinton-speaking-on-health-care-reform
Hillary touting her health care program to a public audience in 1993, and realize: Since Ms. Clinton's health care "reform" debacle in 1993, ALL national attempts at health Care Reform have been DOA, DEAD ON ARRIVAL in the 14 years since!
And, shortly after this picture was taken, the Democrats lost both the House AND the Senate. Bill Clinton always had the knack of shooting himself in the foot, of GIVING his opponents the ammunition they needed to bash him over the head with.
Hillary is a far less gifted politician than her husband... she has a very thin list of actual political accomplishments in her own right; and she has an even worse propensity for shooting herself in foot.
Witness Hillary CLAIMING to be against CAFTA, while BOTH her husband AND her campaign manager were making... HUNDREDS of thousands of dollars LOBBYING on behalf of Columbia for the bill!)

Re Hillary's new base..are the "NASCAR voters"she DISSED in 90s!

Keep up the great ahead-of-curve reporting PM!

I just suggest that all true "democratic" Democratic voters keep these links AT THEIR FINGERTIPS:

#1. Back in 1990s, President Bill Clinton APPROVED THE SALE of Indiana based Magnaquench company to... Communist China, despite Magnaquench being the sole-source provider for the rare-earth magnet electric (servo-) motors that power US jets and rockets. That company is now all gone... completely closed here in America and MOVED TO CHINA !!
http://abcnews.go.com/print?id=4757257

#2. After he left the White House, Harry Truman refused 1,001 endorsement offers from American businessmen selling everything from insurance to __?__. OK, so Give 'em hell Harry was a bit of a stick-in-the-mud. With US troops stuck in the horrific, meat-grinder Korean war, and Truman perceived by both the elite and rank-and-file Americans as a former ploughman (Truman: "When you're plowing the back-forty behind ol' Bessie, the view never changes") he had the worst disapproval ratings until G.W. Bush came allong.

But former President Bill Clinton took Harry Truman's self-retiring reticence to the opposite extreme. Not only were Bill and Hillary getting cozy with the current President Bush, John McCain, and other Republicans, but Bill Clinton has been flying around the world with his former opponent, President George H.W. Bush, on a frequent-flyer basis - a very intimate setting.

Here is the other link all Democrats who want to clear Hillary Clinton out of the path to the White House should have on instant-recall:
Bill Clinton's $10 million advance, on a total pledged $130 MILLION, one-hundred-and-thirty-MILLION dollar advance for his role lobbying Kazakhstan's ruthless dictator for a uranium mining contract for Clinton's donor, Canadian mining baron Frank Giustra. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/31/us/politics/31donor.html

KEEP IT SIMPLE! Bill Clinton signed off on the OUTSOURCING of not only a "regular" US company, but one vital to our national security.

And, he has been flying around in company of Republican ex-presidents, foreign billionaires, and... foreign Saddam Hussein-esque dictators.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH already !

Lordy, I'm sick of the Clintons

I wish every American could read your post -- people who like the Clintons aren't thinking straight in my opinion; they need cold hard facts.

P.M. Carpenter's hysterics concerning Senator Clinton

Calm down and get a grip, Carpenter. It's an election, it's politics. I think some of you crybaby boys ought to read this NYT opinion piece: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/09/opinion/09faludi.html

Mind the company you keep Lormor...

...since your assessment equally defends the campaigns waged by Carl Rove, Lee Atwater, Roger Ailes, and Newt Gingrich. And your referenced article is a waste of ink. It wrongly assumes that working class white men are brutes whose imaginations end in a fist.. .It's not about being a fighter that F-ing matters, its about how you fight!! NEWS FLASH: Most of us white guys get that - at least DEMOCRATIC PARTY white guys. Ironically, your Op Ed piece now extends the denegration of party voters to working class white guys ... I guess the only demographic left for Hillary supporters is white women (Hmmm...). You've essentially misunderstood the anger of the American public, just like George Bush... Man, you gotta reconsider your friends

Don't tell fish stories where the people know you....

... but particularly, don't tell them where they know the fish." (Mark Twain). Every day Hillary and her supporters insist that Obama "cannot win" in November (reference Ed Koch). Well, that's pantently false and scandalous - but keep twisting that knife sister. Can you imagine if Barack said the same about her because she is a woman!! Further, insisting on that lie this late in the game makes her treasonous against her party. What Ed and the rest of Hillary's minions are doing is not race baiting, its racist. But what the hell, she's lost the "eggheads" and the African Americans anyway - as the brilliant Clinton apologist Paul Begala said.

Manchurian candidate

I've heard Obama and McCain both called "Manchurian candidates". I suggest there is one in the race and her name is Hillary Clinton. She was raised a Republican and was a loyal Republican until she married a Democrat. She agrees with McCain, the Republican candidate, and praises him. She disagrees with Obama , the Democratic candidate, and trashes him. She's doing everything in her power to divide the Democrats at a very critical time where we need to be united. If her plan is to f%$# Obama's chances this year so that she can get the coronation she thinks she deserves in 2012, I think she is delusional. Who, besides her base of rural, ignorant white people would support her after she helped give John McBush the White House in 2008?

Excommunicate her!

Hillary should be excommunicated by the Democratic Party. I'm sure the Republicans would love to have her.

Not really

Republicans have spent most of the last two decades demonizing the Clintons. They may enjoy watching Hillary bash Obama, but they most assuredly do not want her for any other purpose.

and the horse she rode in on . . .

Who needs Clinton and any or all of her worthless supporters? They can't be trusted and they have ruined the Democratic Party. I say we should just tell anyone who has ever thought or said anything good about Hillary or that hasn't called her all kinds of names -- that they are no longer welcome in the Democratic Party. We should compare the voter rolls from the primaries and the general election to weed out those who have made the mistake of ever voting for her. It should be clear that if you have not supported our beloved Obama from the beginning, then your voting rights are revoked and your vote (even for Obama) will not ever be counted again. Hillary Clinton supporters must be punished as an example to all those who dare to rebuke America's savior, Mr Barack.

The Funny Thing Is.....

Most of what you sarcastically refer to above.....is a lot of what some of you are constantly threatening to self-impose anyway, de-facto, if not realistically. Where some of you get vindictive is, when we don't want to, or (refuse to), be coerced by you all---you then act like petulant little children needing attention. That is why many of you are STILL, even now, crying from the wilderness, about how you all have, somehow, been "wronged". The voices of the people HAVE SPOKEN, why do so many of you have such a problem with that? Was "winning" THAT important to you?

Truth is, there are those of you, hidden among the ranks, who WILL NEVER VOTE for the Black Man that is Obama; sure, you advocate Hillarys name, but, many of you are closet RACISTS---plain and simple. We act like that human failing is, somehow, the sole province of the Repugs....no, MANY have demonstrated that same defiency here; at least, be honest about it.

I have lived the last 8 years, and 20 of the last 28 years, under the tyranny of leaders I did not vote for--and many Black people have lived the last 50 years with 30 to 50 years of "leadership"...they probably didn't want; It shouldn't be segmented into such demographics, but the reality is----it is. I wrote sometime ago, that many "feminists" are espousing her cause SOLELY on that factor...alone; yet, little is ever said about it; nothing is found wrong with it....but, little closet-David Dukes like Andyod, will NEVER, for a second, let us forget---that Blacks are "only voting their race"; to me, Hillary has set the cause of true Feminism back, at least, 20 years; and there are STILL those women out there who will overlook ALL her grievous short-comings, and nevertheless, dutifully vote for her...b/c truthfully, MANY of them AGREE with what shes doing. Some feminists NEVER saw the plight of BLACK feminists, (or Black Women), as a "REAL ISSUE" anyway, so, by extension, BLACK issues only apply when they need righteous 'cover'; a standard of credibility. You know, we're an "oppressed" group, too---JUST LIKE THE BLACKS....but then, they toss THEIR six-figure income into their husbands six-figure bank account, and then want to cry "freedom"---much like Hillary, mny of them "play at" what is hard, grim truth for Black women......so "liberated" ladies, deal with that truth.

And for you "working-class RACISTS", you've let Hillary play upon your fears like a hooker at a Holy Roller convention. Truth be told, you mean no more to her now then you did 25 years ago in Arkansas---you are STILL "poor, white trash" in her eyes---THE LITTLE PEOPLE who voted for "that vast, right-wing conspiracy"---changing colloquialisms doesn't change the truth. You can bet, had not Bill tainted her campaign so badly with the AA community--you wouldn't be getting doughnut holes from her.

If you can STILL, IN GOOD FAITH, support Hillary after all her constant displays of anti-Progressive, anti-Liberal, anti-Democratic, and just plain anti-human decency tirades, then maybe what you propose is not all that unthinkable. You're doing it to yourselves anyway, or at least, THREATENING to do so, everyday. Because YOUR COW didn't win the blue ribbon at the state fair---you want to burn down the whole farm, so to speak---you people act like extortionists, posing as progressives. I just happen to refuse to cower to such tactics. If the rules we all play by, can't be changed to accommodate you----then you threaten to take your ball----and go home. Its all, so very childish. Thankfully, many of you will have balmed your wounds before November, and remember you're adults (with children); some of you, well..........

Its all about as ironic as your handle (name).......I suppose.

naive or bushie in obama guise?

At least you could write a different comment each day.

Sorry

I couldn't think of anything else to say. I will try to do better. But someone needs to punish those Clinton people so we can build hope for the future. We can't just let them get away with trashing the Obama Democratic Party getting the White House back. And the same goes for the McCain people -- they should not be allowed to vote either or else Mr Barrack won't be able to win his writeful place to save us.

Hillary caters to the rank and file party appartchiks

Hillary's base was and always will be the loyal rank and file worker bees of the Democratic Party. All politics are local and there is no one better at glad-handing than Hillary. Her secretary makes sure that Hillary sends you a birthday card on your birthday or a condolence card when your father passes away. She's real good with "personal loyalty." In the end, these appartchiks must continue on whether Obama wins or loses. The Irish Catholic that control many rural New York counties will remain loyal to Hillary because she has been loyal to them. She can't worry about Black Erie or Bronx counties. If and when Obama wins the nomination, only the party hacks in these counties will remain loyal to Hillary, because she was loyal to them. That is the reason that Charles Rangel is still in Hillary's corner, despite representing a Black Harlem constituency. The remaining States to hold primaries and FL and MI have significant number of white blue collar workers who Hillary can tap in their inherent racism. She can't win the Black vote. She ain't Black. So what does she have to lose in playing the race card? For herself, she doesn't lose anything. For the national Democratic Party, she rips the Party apart.

'We' instead of 'she'

Obama is stating the obvious and some don't understand. It's not about the candidates. It's about the people, the voters, the citizens of this once great country. He has tried to include people in the process which is good for the future of this country. Government leaders won't try to operate like they have for the last 25+ years (divide the people) if the citizens stand up and demand better. A democratic government should fear the people; people living in a democracy should never fear their government.

Fear

They shouldn't necessarily FEAR us, but they should most definitely consider our opinions important. After all, WE are their employers. They work for US (theoretically).
You have no idea what pleasure I would derive from walking up to both G.W. and Dick and say "You're both FIRED!" If only it were that easy.

Vote your mind, vote your heart, vote your conscience. But please vote! Indifference is a cancer that eats away at our nation.

These remarks won't hurt her in

Kentucky and WV, I think they're proud of being non-college educated white people. All the same, she continues to try to subtly inject race into the primary while Obama has addressed it like an adult, and moved on. I know you're tired, Hillary, but stay on the high road. This whole thing can be over with any time you wish. Donnat

Ignore Hillary

It is time to ignore Hillary until she has something positive like endorses Obama or McSame.

Most people will.

The good news in all of this is that Hillary Clinton has fairly low credibility with the public. A recent survey showed that only 39% find her trustworthy. Hopefully, that means that most clear-thinking individuals will not be influenced by her hateful campaign against her own party's presumptive nominee. In fact, there is a possibility that it will trigger a backlash that will work in Obama's favor. Moreover, although playing the race card reveals what an odious person Hillary really is, its true appeal is to persons who are not inclined to vote for a Democrat under any circumstances, most of whom live in solidly red states that Obama is unlikely to carry even if Jesus Christ is his running mate.

Observations.....

In the wee hours of the morning, just when the first hints of dappled colors start to tint the pallet that soon becomes the morning sky...its the perfect hour for reflective meditation...from a distant room in another corner of the house, faint voices on TV clash, and clamor, striving to demonstrate their professed relevance, their perceived self-importance........

Listening to this; but not viewing it, enhances the ability to concentrate on the substance of the words spoken, without the annoyances of visual distractions...and it occurred to me...

When did Republicans (like Pat Buchanan) obtain the power, THE RIGHT? to tell Democrats...that "Hillary staying in the race...is, somehow, GOOD for the Demcratic Party"? When did the fortunes of the country become the SOLE proprietary of "WHITE, working class workers"? When did we become so obtuse that self-centered obstinacy is considered a virtue? When did Hillarys "working class whites" become the sole determinant for the argument that OBAMA CAN'T win without them; yet, its considered "safe" to assume that SHE CAN win....without AFRICAN AMERICANS?

When did "Delusional" become "Determined"? When did "faux histrionics" and "staged affectations" become substitutes for "substantive leadership" and "moral courage"? When did code-words and innuendo become more relevant to the ends than inspirational words of "HOPE" being the means? When did pathological "Obsessiveness" become grim "Tenacity"? When (and HOW) did the DESIRES of ONE PERSON, supercede the NEEDS of ALL THE PEOPLE? When did the countless miscalculations made yesterday by losing "campaign strategists" and 'campaign managers" become the prognosticative certainties of today? When did our Democratic leaders become the spineless, whimpering sycophants devoid of merit; depleted of value?

Lastly, and most bewilderingly, when, oh when, will all the Hillary believers on this thread, step back for a moment, put down their arms they've taken up against us...consider the party; consider their future; consider the nation, consider themselves.......and be honest with their convictions......and see the time has come to retire the queen....................How long, Lord, how long?

Hillary is not a racist, as far as I know.

If Obama is asked about Hillary's comments, maybe he should reply similarly to the way she did when asked about whether he is a Muslim -- "Hillary is not a racist, as far as I know."

What's worse, a racist or

What's worse, a racist or someone who uses race baiting as a means to an end?

Is this the message she wanted to send?

Hillary Clinton has told the entire world: "My base, and my supporters are ignorant white people." If it's true, how sick is that?

It boils down to this

PM--When Obama has a rally, you hear the crowd say "YES WE CAN". But, when Hill Billy has a rally they chant "YES SHE CAN". It's all about her. The Clinton's only care about themselves. Nothing that self centered pompous clone of Lurleen Wallace does shocks me anymore. Frankly, I'm just waiting for Hill Billy to pop up on the 700 Club and kiss Pat Robertson's ass the same way she kissed Scaife's. Or is she going to grovel at the feet of Joe LIEberman and beg for his support, too? She's become a living "B"-hole. I call her a "B"-hole because she doesn't have what it takes to be an "A"-hole!

Seriously WTF?

Just when you thought it could'nt get any more pathetic. This is what bugs me. -People act like this must go to the finish so every vote gets cast and counted, when that is not the precedent. When the winner becomes appearant, it's over. -People act like white, middle-class people aren't voting for Obama when plenty of them most certainly are. -People act like MI and FL are getting wronged when in fact they broke the rules and must pay the consequence. The crap about hard working whites are voting for Clinton is just disgusting. She should've just said that the only supporters Obama has are lazy N's. Notice nobody has really said that her base of white, uneducated folks are just dumb rednecks who are easily tricked by old time fear and race baiting. People that would vote for McCain if Clinton doesn't win are neither democrats or rational. I find it hard to believe that they have the potential to decide a race. Obama has won and McCain will be soundly defeated. Why can't everyone be happy with this. At least be confident about it. This is what we've been waiting 8 f&%king years for. Has anyone else noticed that the Obama slogan 'We are the ones we've been waiting for' is derived from the Hopi Indians and ties in with the awakening that is supposed to happen in 2012. My paranoid logic suggests that perhaps we're destined for four more years of disaster(we haven't hit rock bottm yet) and 2012 will herald the arrival of a great leader. No not Clinton, Obama would beat her again in 2012 of that I am sure.

Ignoring the Real Numbers

I agree. It's pretty convenient to ignore the nearly 50-50 voting results in some states, showing that voters -- all of them -- are about evenly divided between the two candidates. Numbers from previous primaries, though they seem to have been held sooo long ago, are also ignored, numbers that show Obama has plenty of support from all demographics. Numbers that also show huge margins of victory over Clinton. Apparently the Clinton campaign has made those numbers irrelevant with their constant pounding of the message that "those states don't matter." Of course they matter. They all matter -- if you go with the idea that Obama can rewrite the map of how the White House is won. There used to be a lot of talk about that, too. I remember NBC's Chuck Todd providing a detailed description of how Obama can win the White House without Ohio and Florida -- something that conventional wisdom swears can't be done. And yet he proved that it indeed can be done by expanding the map, creating more blue states from red and purple states. Only Obama can do that. But again, we don't see much of that discussion anymore. Only Clinton's false arguments. But maybe we'll start seeing these discussions again. Now that the math has made it impossible for Clinton to remain viable, discussion of reality might return to the MSM.

Ignoring the Real Problem !!!

The system the Democrats have used in this election does not make any sense at all.
I have voted in Presidential elections since 1952 and have never seen such a disaster as this Democratic Election.
First of all I never saw where the delegates decided an election before the Convention. Never!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Usually there are several nominations and ballotting. Never has there been anything as asinine as having primaries scattered just weeks before the Convention.
When the States of Massachusetts. Pennsylvania, Texas etc have had their primaries and the people voted for their candidate, what gives the Delegates the RIGHT to go against the voters of their states? This is wrong, wrong wrong.
Those Delegates who jumped on the Obma band-wagon have no idea what they have done to the election system or to the Party. Shame on them for their ignorance and stubborness.
Mr Obama is behind the denial of the DNC to give Clinton the delegates she deserves in Michigan and Florida.
The Party is determined to give the nomination to Obama simply because he is Black and their dislike of Bill Clinton.
I have news for the likes of the Senators and others , if it weren't for Bill Clinton making them look good in the nineties some of them wouldn't be where thay are today.
Whatever you may think of President Clinton, he was Presidential. He brought this country out of debt and put many more cops on the streets.
Now, the Democratic Congress is scorned because they didn't have the guts to say No to the Republicans and Bush.
This same group is giving us epoplexy just watching what is coming around.
I will not vote for Obama I don't care how big he wins at the Convention. I am for an open Convention.
I think the Democrats are worse than Bush in how they have stolen this election from the voters.
So, to my great disappointment, I believe John McCain will be the next President.
Obama cannot win the Red States.

Another thing that has not been considered. No one knew of Obama's Rev. Wright issue until late in the game. I suggest that if there were a revote of past primaries & caucus's he would be behind very badly. Or lost by now. There is a lot of "Buyers Remorse" that will come into play in the General election.

MAN!!!----You are such a self-deluding Fool.....

You wrote:

" Mr Obama is behind the denial of the DNC to give Clinton the delegates she deserves in Michigan and Florida.
The Party is determined to give the nomination to Obama simply because he is Black and their dislike of Bill Clinton...." and....

" I will not vote for Obama I don't care how big he wins at the Convention. I am for an open Convention...."

I have FOUR points I'd like to raise concerning your bigoted, politically myopic, self-delusions:

1) What in the hell makes you think YOU can lodge allegations like: "Mr Obama is behind the denial of the DNC to give Clinton the delegates...."

Simply because you FEEL like vomiting them? I CHALLENGE you, since you like to 'google' so much, To PROVE this assertion! With cites, with quotes, with references, with ANYTHING!....if not, then you need to shut down your numerous, oft-told lies !

2) HOW do you come to the conclusion she "deserves" delegated from Michigan and Florida?

She has about as much right to claim 'delegates" from those states, as I "deserve" a Cadillac from Michigan, and 'my' Ocean view home from the state of Florida. I sincerely think many of you Hillary followers are SERIOUSLY psychologically scarred because its become SO HARD for you to cope with what you perceive as a "betrayal"---from the country, from the Dem party, and from other more lucid, fair-minded Whites---you simply, CAN'T STAND the notion they believe, and assisted, a Black Man in beating your beloved icon. Like a 16th-century missionary--you feel obsessively COMPELLED, IT SEEMS, to convert them to your Messianic 'vision'---to show them the "error of their ways".

The depraved thing about you---is......me having to watch you twist and turn through the base, convuluted valleys of your corrupted little realities of "Black dominion" over you, as you sit there and try to convince others your reasoning is anything other then a long-time, foul, bigotry----at your very core. Whats funny is, the more they 'read' you concerning this; the more obligated YOU become convincing them its otherwise. Which leads to.....

3)" I will not vote for Obama I don't care how big he wins at the Convention. I am for an open Convention...."

Which is a lie. You are only for ANY scenario that will prompt a WHITE PERSON's win. That, in truth, is/has been what is eating at your very soul(??!?)--(I ASSUME you possess one)--you really couldn't care less that its Hillary--that is why you can overlook her actions and words. It suffices for you that it be ANY white person. So its not surprising, AT ALL, that you would consider this to be "the real problem". As the saying goes.....THERES NO FOOL(BIGOT),....LIKE AN OLD FOOL(BIGOT)!!

4) you wrote: "Another thing that has not been considered. No one knew of Obama's Rev. Wright issue until late in the game. I suggest that if there were a revote of past primaries & caucus's he would be behind very badly. Or lost by now...."

THAT would have been your wet-dream delight, wouldn't it? This is a tepid, insipid little argument, that is akin to a bigots ultimate fantasy. It could just as easily be extrapolated that if the MSM had truly done its job, that is, REPORT it for what it was, a non-issue, COMMENT from SOMEONE ELSE'S MOUTH, and , duh, reported that Rev. Wright---was not RUNNING FOR OFFICE; instead of inciting a 'horse-race' brand of journalism for ratings and commercial revenues-----we might have had even more impressive wins by Obama. Who had ALREADY done well in the VERY WHITE STATES OF IOWA AND COLORADO...for example.

If they held the convention in your back yard and let YOUR vote be the final determinate;-----THAT might shut your RACIST ASS UP! ....But, somehow, I doubt it.

Rev. Wright

Rev. Wright doesn't speak for Barack Obama any more than my wife speaks for me, or I speak for her. We are all individuals with our own opinions and outlooks.
It's funny that all the negatives attributed to Obama are because of what other people said or did, but Hillary's negatives are from her own personal actions or the so many lies she's told unabashedly. Sniper fire? Please!

But he needs to be on the defensive? Please!

Vote your mind, vote your heart, vote your conscience. But please vote! Indifference is a cancer that eats away at our nation.

Chuck Todd is the shiznit!

Chuck Todd is such a geek in the nicest way. His motivation seems to be his geekiness. He loves crunching numbers and rarely seems to include his own opinion. Just the facts ma'am. I listen to Chuck Todd while most of the other pundits give me a headache. Matthew's spittle-glistening lip, Scarborough and Carlson's beady little eyes, Gregory, Blitzer and Dobb's arrogance. Chuck Todd and Rachel Maddow should have their own brainy geekfest for an hour a night.
