Giuliani Tells Manufacturers That What Defines "The Essential Nature" of Americans is "We Want to Sell You Something"

BuzzFlash found an actual statement reflecting Rudolph Giuliani's honest thoughts.  On Friday, December 7, he told an association of manufacturers in Illinois:

"You know what the essential nature of the American people is?" Giuliani said. "You know because your association stands for it. The essential nature of the American people is: We want to sell you something."

So it's not about the charade of trumped up GOP family values (of which Giuliani has been the antithesis in his personal life), nor the importance of religion, nor the nobility of democracy.

No, Rudy cuts right to the chase when among fellow hucksters: what defines us as Americans is that "We want to sell you something."

As usual, this most revealing of Rudy G. comments came at the end of an article (in this case in the November 8th Chicago Sun-Times).  That's where we find a lot of the most important news in the mainstream media, in the last paragraph of news stories.

So, it's not about leadership, or moral values, or the Pledge of Allegiance.

It's about packaging, not substance.

And who can embody that more than the man who screwed up everything about handling NYC before, during and after 9/11, except for cutting a "heroic" and "defiant" image for the media?  All style, no accountability.

There's something deeply troubling to hear a Republican like Rudy G. bare it all to the business community: what we are about as a nation, they believe, is not our liberty and freedom; it's about selling.

That's right: selling products that we don't need, selling wars, selling politicians who are corrupt and immoral (but repackaging them as heroic), selling us torture, selling us fear, selling us down the river so that a select few at the top can profit and seize unprecedented power.

The great experience of democracy, Rudy revealed, is not about all that patriotic pablum we learn in school; no, the "essential nature" of us as Americans is pushing products, just like Rudy G. is peddling "9/11" as his "brand."

No, Rudy G., America's greatness is not about "selling"; it's about real freedom, and real democracy, and real Constitutional rights, and real liberty -- not the manufactured slogans sold to us by you and the Republican Party.

You don't have to "sell" democracy; you just have to be able to breathe it to savor it.

That is our "essential nature" and nobility as a nation.

Loser! In the words of Forrest Gump:"That's all I have to say about that."I'll leave it to the people of New York to tell it from the highest peak how much the real Rudy is loved. Rudy.Yeah right.Ha!!

Judy Ruliani the Salesman...er,woman...er, oh well

I think he, is his own twisted way, has identified what is primarily wrong with the thinking of the powers that be and their view of the American public. We're not citizens in a modern civil society. We're not unique in our individual talents, personalities and desires. We don't have the ability to contribute via the arts such as letters, architecture, engineering, planning or music. We're simply dissatisfied, debt addled consumers whose only contribution to this Republic will be to drive ourselves nuts working long hours to save less and less and lose more of our souls to a consumer based economy. Until Americans develop a better view of themsleves and get the economy to serve them instead of the other way around self promoting, arrogant, narcissistic and vain charlatans like Judy Ruliani, George Bush or Dick Cheney and vacuous, shallow religious hucksters like Sam Brownback, Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee and dangerous policy types like Joe Leiberman and Mitt Romney will continue to govern our nation and shape our policies. We need to become real CITIZENS, not a damned CATCHMENT group.

GIULIANI is the most corrupt pol in US history

Even more telling than Rudy admitting that he's a charlatan is that Mayor Rudy was more pro-regulation of (small) businesses than any human in US history.

EX:
he spent millions to harass ADULT BOOKSTORES! He said the free market should NOT decide what americans can buy. HE alone should decide what should be permitted, even if he's violating the law!

EX:
Rudy tried to shut down all the NYC street food vendors to help the restaurant associations!

EX:
Rudy shut down many bars if more than 3 people danced, citing a corrupt 1926 law that was created to stop white kids from dancing at jazz clubs in Harlem!

EX:
Rudy harassed NYC bars more than any pol in history: he'd send in the oldest 20 year old cops to buy a drink and then hit the poor bartenders with $1,000 fines and the bar with $3,000 fines!

THIS, despite the fact that Rudy and everyone he knows drank booze before they were legal.

Hypocrisy should be a crime.
And pols lying should get them jail time.

Want lots more Rudy dirt the media keeps secret?

Giuliani as salesman

Who would buy anything from this lying, hypocritical, thieving yahoo? Has America sunk so low as to keep believing this jerk? The Republican party has become a sorry joke on the Constitution and rational thought since tricky Dick, Ronnie, Poppy and Jr. puked up their luddite stupidity and creationist, multi-national "new world order" on the fools who vote for them.

Not Our Essential Nature
