| If This Isn't a De Facto Dictatorship, What Is? A BUZZFLASH NEWS ANALYSIS We learned yesterday from the Boston Globe that Bush is openly claiming that he can make his own laws and ignore others. He is acting in defiance of the Constitution. We have Republican Congressional bodies that will do absolutely nothing to expose Bush illegalities, lies and malfeasance. We have a so-called Justice Department run by the Bushevik consiglieri, Mr. Gonzales. We are on our way to another politically-motivated war, with the White House using the same Rovian playbook that they used to shoehorn America into the Iraq fiasco. We have an administration with a 32% approval rating and the Washington Press Corps still treats Bush as if he's credible and successful. When Bush plays his "'aw shucks ain't I the hayseed" routine at the Washington Correspondents dinner, the reporters and media execs laugh hysterically. When Stephen Colbert, at the same event, uses his droll humor to expose the truth, the D.C. press corps is uncomfortable and smileless. At all costs, the D.C. media prefers a Don Knotts routine by a failed president who endangers America to the disastrous reality of his reign being exposed. If this isn't a de facto dictatorship, what is? A BUZZFLASH NEWS ANALYSIS |
