| BuzzFlash Articles Win Two 2007 Project Censored Awards A BUZZFLASH NEWS ALERT BuzzFlash is extremely proud to announce that two BuzzFlash commentaries by Eilliot Cohen and Maureen Farrell have received Project Censored Awards for 2007. BuzzFlash.com also won two Project Censored Awards in 2005. Maureen Farrell and BuzzFlash won for her story about the construction of civilian detention camps in the United States. They are being built by a subsidiary of Halliburton. Elliot Cohen also received one of the top prizes for his commentary on the growing threat to Internet freedom by corporate predators, "Web of Deceit: How Internet Freedom Got the Federal Ax, And Why Corporate News Censored the Story." Saving the pro-democracy Internet has long been a key editorial mission of BuzzFlash. Project Censored is nationally known for its long history of recognizing journalism that has been ignored by the mainstream press. Over 250 faculty and students at Sonoma State University in California review hundreds of stories. This year’s winners were chosen earlier this spring. An awards ceremony will be held in the Bay Area later this year. The BuzzFlash commentaries will appear in the annual anthology of winners “Censored 2007: Media Democracy in Action,” scheduled for release in August from Seven Stories Press. Our deepest congratulations and thanks to Maureen Farrell and Elliot Cohen for sharing their work with BuzzFlash readers. A BUZZFLASH NEWS ALERT |
