We can't offer official advice or a comprehensive guide to protecting onself, but we have located some Internet-based resources that might prove helpful. A checklist (MSNBC) Frequently Asked Questions on VA's Letter to Veterans (Washington Post) Many sources suggest contacting the major credit bureaus to have a "fraud report" placed on your accounts, blocking any thief (and you, yourself) from opening new accounts using your name and data.
