Dean On Bush's Authorization To Leak Classified Information For Political Gain

Washington, DC - Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement on reports that I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, told prosecutors President Bush authorized him to leak classified information for political gain:
"Now we know President Bush authorized the leaking of classified information for political gain. His willingness to do so demonstrates once again that the President puts his party above the security of the American people.
"This is why Democrats have continued to speak out and hold the Bush Administration and the Congressional Republicans who have protected them, accountable for what is clearly a pattern of putting party ahead of country and misleading the American people."
