A Release from Cinema Libre:

Cinema Libre Studio continues the fight with the signing of the critically acclaimed doc “Mission Accomplished” for U.S. and Canadian theatrical, broadcast and DVD distribution.

“Mission Accomplished” takes place seven months after President Bush declares the war over in Iraq and “Mission Accomplished”. The film follows British Journalist Sean Langan (BBC Four) as he tours Iraq armed with a video camera – moving between resistance fighter and the American Troops, capturing a rare grassroots view of the conflict still raging across Iraq.

Sean Langan was able to obtain rare footage of the suicide bomber led by the Jordanian Al Shacazi an Al Quaida operative that drove a truck of explosives under a bridge on Christmas Day 2003. A segment that show disturbing celebration among the suicide bomber and fellow Iraqi’s prior to his voyage.

“Being a one-man team,” explains director Sean Langan, “I was able to gain access to in-depth interviews with members of the Iraqi resistance, or the insurgents as they’re more commonly known.”

Director Sean Langan has built-up extensive knowledge of the Middle East over the last 10 years. His 1989 film “Nightmare in Paradise, followed his six-month search for five western tourists kidnapped in Kashmir by extreme group that later aligned itself with Osama bin Laden. His next two films, “Tea with the Taiban” and “Kabul Vice”, were the first ever films to show the reality behind Taliban’s regime in Afghanistan.

After airing on BBC4 and BBC2 in November of 2004, The London Evening Standard called “Mission Accomplished” – “The film that shook my faith in the war,” while The Sunday Times dubbed the doc “a brilliant, timely and humane piece of first-person journalism.”

Cinema Libre Studio plans to release “Mission Accomplished” in theaters on March 18, 2005.
